The CrossFitter

Matt and Matt are praying that they make it through the workout on Halloween.

Carlos working on his L-sits. He always comes in and works hard and is great to workout with.
Lindsey and her husband Tyler are two of our newer clients. Here is Lindsey doing dips and below Tyler working on power cleans (see the video).

Each week we get calls asking what CrossFit is all about and just like all the other affiliate sites, we tell them it’s short duration and high intensity work using functional type movements, not machines. Bottom line it’s hard work and your going to love it and see results or hate it and never come back, but you have to try it to appreciate it. No one ever asks what kind/type of people do CrossFit. I’ll get asked how much costs before they even ask what we offer or how we can benefit them. The type of people we have as members aren’t afraid to work hard – try something new – feel a little uncomfortable – get a couple of calluses – they recognize the value in what CrossFit offers – want to be apart of a team/community – are tired of shinny big box gyms who don’t know their name nor care to know – they are willing to pay a little more for a gym with no machines and no cardio room but who does care that you show up, work hard and make progress. It’s hard to believe that more people in our area aren’t taking advantage of CrossFit. With the rising fat and diabetes problem in America and the fact that people will go to a gym for years and not see one single change in health, fitness or performance, but will see a change in their bank account when the monthly payment is taken out because of an two or three year contract they were sold into, I am totally surprised that people aren’t betting down the doors of all the CrossFit gym world wide. Your average person will spend good money on a fancy home machine or a anti-fat pill before seeking out quality training (not shinny big box training/membership), WHY? I’m venting right now, can you tell? If you have ever wondered about CrossFit get in and do it – if you have been going to a gym and haven’t seen any changes go to or start doing CrossFit – if you don’t know where to start for exercise don’t waist time or money, go to any CrossFit – if you want someone to genuinely glad to see you come in to work out go to any CrossFit. We love fitness and want to see you succeed.

To all our members and fellow CrossFitters thank you and God bless.

Matt after the tires.

A couple of guys from the Air Force SERE school giving 50 bears with 95lb a try.

The last couple of weeks have been good for the gym. We have seen a lot of new faces in the gym giving it a try. We have averaged about 2-3 new members a week since we have moved and we owe it all to our members for bringing them in. Thank You SSOOO much.

Tire Torture

Written by crossfitmike. Posted in Uncategorized

We had a birthday party for our youngest daughter,Brooklyn(who turned one!) last week and as I looked around the room at or friends we had invited they were all clients except for one couple. It made me smile to know that we have a great relationship with all our clients who come through our doors to be voluntarily tortured.

Picks from the week

Chandra learning the Dead Lift

Connie doing a great pull.

KT learning the Dead Lift.

Matt trying to out do me in the relay.

He didn’t.

I spoke with a gentleman from out of town who is a CrossFitter and the conversation was like he was an old friend or something. It reminded me of how great our CrossFit community is. If I were to see some one in an airport with a CrossFit t-shirt on I would not hesitate to talk to that person because I already know what kind of person they will be, we have a unique relationship with all CrossFiters in the sense that we have all been there and experienced it. We are all extremely lucky to have that. Thank you to all of you.

Intensity

Tony doing some box jumps. “good hip extension”

Tony and Maria doing Dueling Sledgehammers

Angela letting out the frustrations from the week

Connie finishing up here walking overhead lung and pullup workout.

Our future CrossFiters Sophie and Brooklyn, they are so awesome.

There was one thing that I noticed this week from everyone who came in to work out this week, intensity. You could see it in the workouts and on everyones faces and as I thought about it I noticed that they are not only intense in the gym, but also in life. Each person seems to have the intensity that drive success, whether it be in school, family life, relationships, work or what ever. It seems to me that intensity , passion and drive are the commonalities in in anything successful. I see that in all our members, they all want to do well in their workouts. The intensity they have often gets me fired up to want to workout even when I’m not feeling up to it and we all need that sometimes. Thats the beauty of CrossFit, we have a great support group to get you through the days when you don’t want to do the WOD, but you know you should. We have a great community and team THANK YOU TO ALL OUR MEMBERS.

I would like the welcome our newest members, Carlos and Charyl, to the CrossFit family.

The new records board

Shane at the beginning of the tire flip and jump. “You only have to flip then jump in and out 50 times, piece of cake.”

Shane during the tire flip and jump. “Come on Shane only 25 more”

Shane at the end of the workout with a great time. “What a monster”

Here is Brooklyn’s first squat. Look at her form and how deep she naturally goes down , most adults could not get anywhere close to this without some serious practice and time. Believe it or not she has had no formal training. “She’s a natural”

Well it’s been a good week at the new place. We have had some good hard fun workouts and everyone seems to be enjoying the new open space. I know I do. We look forward to many new clients and friends and some good workouts as the weeks come. We are slowly trying to improve the gym. We have put up a records board for all to see, we also are getting a couple of bids to have two showers installed, so if you know anyone who is cheap or would like a membership for some work let us know. After the seminar last weekend I got motivated to start the ZONE diet this week and it seems to be going well, hard, but well. With out really trying I have lost about five pounds and a little bit of energy, but once I get this thing dialed in all will be AWESOME. For more info about the ZONE diet and a CrossFiters experience checkout CROSSFIT ONE WORLD’s site and read Freddy’s daily log.

To all our members, keep up the good work we appreciate all of you and love having you guys as part of the CrossFit family.
